FFA members find gold in Columbus

Some people say that there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The rainbow wasn’t out, but the members of the Pymatuning Valley FFA found their pot of gold at the 77 th annual Ohio State FFA Convention in Columbus, Ohio, May 5th -7th.

The first to be recognized were the members of the Ohio FFA Band and Choir. Hannah Sundberg and Rebecca Savel were selected to play in the Ohio State FFA Band. April Youngblood was selected to sing in the Ohio FFA Choir. These young people were involved in two concert presentations and two session of the Ohio FFA Convention.

The next to be recognized were the PV FFA members participating in the Ohio FFA AgriScience Fair. Lindsey Zaebst, daughter of Chris and Cindy Zaebst of Jefferson, won first and a gold rating in Zoology. She will be representing the Ohio FFA next fall at the National FFA Convention in Louisville. April Youngblood received a silver rating in Zoology. Another gold was awarded to Rebecca Savel in the Botany section. The Star awards acknowledged our very own Dustin Brown, son of Bob and Kristain Brown of Dorset, as the winner of the District #3 State Star Farmer Award. Dustin received a plaque and was one of the ten finalists for the State Star.

Finalizing the PV FFA success in Columbus was Rebecca Savel, daughter of Mark and Denise Savel of Andover, Ohio. Rebecca received her State Degree and was recognized for her success amoung over 23,000 FFA members.

PV FFA members are looking for the challenges ahead for the new year. As the National FFA slogan says, “LEARN, LEAD, SUCCEED”. That’s just what the PV FFA members did to achieve great heights.
